Overview:

There are some types of games that never go out of style. They reappear with different game twists. Retro Detonation is in the genre of race through the maze, destroying walls and enemies style of game.

Game features:

  • 5 worlds, 10 levels in each of them
  • 2 game modes - classical and advanced ones with a store where you can buy weapons and bonuses
  • 16 various creatures (some of them kill being rather far from you)
  • 20 bonuses and 4 types of weapons
  • the mazes are generated in random manner and that's why each of the levels is always unique; modern graphics, unique music tracks for each of the worlds and SFX!

This is an interesting game. It adds some nice features. It’s fast paced, but not frantic in game play. The idea is to blow up walls in a cave to find the exit. The caveat is that you must destroy a number of tunnel blocks before you can exit the level. There are lots of bugs wandering around in the cave. You can blow up then up or avoid then as they aren’t overly smart. When you blow up walls, you might also find power-ups to help fight the bugs. One interesting power-up is the flower. If you collect that one, all the bugs on that level turn into flowers for a short time. Beware of using a bomb near an exit. If the explosion hits the exit, it will spawn additional bugs. The game is timed, but seems to give you enough time to complete a level.

Conclusion:

This is a good little game and to top it off, it’s now free. You’ll find this a good game for your collection. The sound, music and graphics are top very good. I did find the game a little bit hard at times. It’s hard to judge if the bugs are going to come after you or just roam the maze. The game is responsive and you can tap a spot where you want to go and off he goes. It’s easy to drop a bomb and ‘bug out’ to a different corner of the screen. The one thing I liked a lot was being able to restart at the last level the game ended at.

A nice feature of the game is the ability to buy extra time, lives and weapons. Although you can buy different weapons, I found the bomb the easiest to use.

My recommendation is to download it, install it and play! You’ll have an entertaining time with it.
