Let?s see a show of hands, how many of you remember the old arcade game called Joust? Ever really get
the hang of it ?back in the day?? Well, Isotope244 Graphics has released an updated version of the game
and it?s called Atomic Battle Dragons. Isotope244 Graphics is the company that gave us Acky's XP Breakout
and Atomic Cannon. Both of these games were Pocket PC Magazine winners. Atomic Battle Dragons may be the
next winner for Best Action Game.
Isotope244 Graphics has added a full back story and RPG elements to the Joust arcade game.
?Mount your dragon and take to the skies in this action and adventure game and joust mythical enemies.
The game is very easy to learn and convenient to play with the automatic save system. You play as a
dragon knight and uncover a story rooted in medieval mythology. The lands are under siege from Belzom's
evil dragon army and you must joust them to save the kingdom.?
?In this exciting platformer game you travel through four very unique zones containing over 40 levels.
Scattered throughout these zones you will encounter unique types of enemies to slay, including four huge
zone bosses. The game features several different types of game play, such as flying a dragon, shooting a
ballista, fighting enemies in the air and on the ground, jousting opponents, adventuring on foot, and
collecting magical items and gems.?
?You will meet several allies to help you on your adventure, such as an elf that is also under attack
by Belzom's army. Her name is Briannah and she uses her elven powers to summon items to aid in your
journey. All of the magical items have unique properties such as allowing you to walk on fire, and
enchanting your lance for greater striking power.?
The basic idea is to attach your enemy from above. 2 or more hits in rapid succession will knock the rider
off the dragon. You can then run the rider over with your dragon or chase him into a lava pit. You need to
get the rider before he ?re-spawns? on one of the pads. If you get knocked off your dragon, you need to
get to a ?re-spawn? pad. Throughout the game you will find ?power-ups? on the screen to help you with your
quest.
The game can be configured to play on just about any speed PPC. There are so many options that I?ll
only mention a few here.
The difficulty can be adjusted. Information screens and pop-ups can be turned off and on.
The graphics can be tweaked to run on just about any model PPC. If you have a fast unit, you can set
the graphics up high. You can play the game in portrait or landscape mode. The buttons and D-pad are
configurable.
The music and sound effects are adjustable. Sound playback rate is adjustable for slower PPCs.
Conclusion:
The one thing I didn?t like about this game was how hard it was to control the dragon with the D-pad. I
played it in both portrait and landscape modes and I kept losing. My fingers are just too big. On the
bright side, I tried a Bluetooth game pad that worked very well. (Review of it coming soon!)
This is a good game and lots of fun. The game is very customizable, which helps a lot for running on
just about any PPC. The story line and RPG elements add to the game. Graphics and sound are top notch, as
is to be expected from a Isotope244 Graphics game.
I did feel the price was a little high for the game. They do offer a demo download that you might want
to try before you buy the game.
